Founded in 1972, SLA Europe is one of the largest regional communities of the Special Libraries Association. We are a thriving network of information professionals and organisations across Europe, representing all sectors and areas of the profession.
We offer and regularly organise a wide range of networking events, including professional development sessions, talks by leading industry experts, and awards to support attendance at various conferences hosted by SLA.
Background
Our Conference is organised by our Conference Planning Committee in collaboration with our Events Committee and our Digital Communications Committee. Each committee is made up of a team of volunteers, who are dedicated to showcasing library and information work.
The committee diligently organises an exciting programme of speakers, social events and sessions including keynote speakers, workshops, and local tours to allow delegates to fully immerse themselves within our conference atmosphere. The conference also offers attendees the opportunity to share knowledge, engage with current developments, meet vendors, as well as network with colleagues across various sectors. Our first conference was in 2019 and was positively received by our members and our parent organisation, SLA.
SLA Europe is committed to supporting greater diversity, inclusion, and accessibility both in our events and at our conference. This is why we actively encourage information and library professionals at any level to submit papers and present at our conference. We also aim to support future attendees with conferences places available via bursaries, in collaboration with other SLA Communities, and through our SLA Europe award scheme.
