2021 Conference Reflections – Resilience

In this blog post, Emilia shares a reflection of Sarah Wolfenden’s session on the topic of surviving and thriving post-lockdown.

Sarah started with her own story and her career pathway. Overcoming the enormous challenges in her life was not easy, however Sarah told us about the importance of self-care, taking time to practice mindfulness and meditation – Sarah is not only a librarian and a coach, but also a yoga teacher.

She shared how these practices can help us to become stronger and more resilient.  As someone who also had to overcome many challenges (being an orphan, multiple mental health struggles, leaving and working in a foreign country), I see the great value of this talk.

Listening to someone who managed to build an impressive career despite all the troubles that life throws at us really gave me hope.

Sarah finished her session with a short meditation. I think that I will be coming back to the recording of this session more than once…

Thank you, SLA Europe for the bursary award and thank you Sarah!
