2021 Conference Reflections – Day One & Two

In this blog post, Alice shares a reflection of our two day conference and her experience in attending virtually.

Despite nearly two decades working in libraries I don’t think I had attended an SLA event until the recent SLA Europe conference.

There were so many items in the conference programme that appealed to me – partly an opportunity to reflect on experiences of the last year plus (very much needed considering that there’s been so little time for this), and partly an opportunity to be inspired with topics with a direct relevance to my job, and with other people’s experiences.

All the sessions were great – they gave me lots to learn and ponder on at the time, and I will watch the recordings and go back through my notes to ensure I actually implement one or two of the things that inspired me! This particularly applies to the exercises in the Resilience Session and the education that the ESG Session gave me.

I was struck continually by how the sessions related to each other – a sign of great speakers and a well put together conference.

The cookery masterclass at the end made me feel like I was properly ‘at a conference’, relating with others, though it was also great to have my daughter welcomed. It was yummy too!

Our 2021 SLA Europe Conference was held from 30 June to 1 July. Over the two days, our delegates heard from a range of speakers and experts on the theme of Reflect | Redesign | Reboot

You can follow conversations from Day One of the Conference on Twitter and LinkedIn, either by following us @SLAEurope or by following the hashtag #ReflectRedesignReboot
